FAQs
Q: What makes Coffee News different from other print advertising?

A: Coffee News is fun! Our readers make the choice to pick up a copy, versus other mail out publications. Therefore, we know they are actually reading it. Coffee News is brief! We offer just enough fun and interesting material to grab the reader’s attention, but still leave them with time to peruse the advertising as well. Coffee News is only one page! Your ad is on the front or back, but never lost in the middle. If your ad is in Coffee News, no doubt, it gets seen! Coffee News is a weekly publication; however we print enough to keep the papers in the stands all week long, thereby targeting as many readers as possible.  Since most of our readers are in restaurants, we know they have extra money to spend on eating out and your product!

Q:  I have heard that print media is a thing of the past.  How does this affect Coffee News?

A:  While it is true that the readership and subscriptions of traditional newspapers have plummeted over the last decade, largely due to the availability of information on the internet, Coffee News readership and franchise expansion has exploded.  Our content is free, brief and fits nicely into the average American's day, during a meal.  Since we don't publish our content on the internet, the only way to get it is to pick a Coffee News up!

Q: How long have you been publishing?

A: We have been publishing our Mesquite edition of Coffee News since April 9, 2004, and our Forney edition since March 3, 2006. Our Longview & Kilgore/ Liberty City editions have been published since May 30th 2008.  The Tyler edition opened in February, 2010.

Q: What are the weekly contests all about?

A: Each week we hide our Coffee News mascot, "Cuppy" or other logos from our local contest sponsors, in one of our advertiser's ads. To enter the contest, all the reader has to do is fill out our online form or mail in the name of the ad that one of our mascots was hiding in to our offices. Please see the contest section on the back of the paper for mail-in guidelines. A monthly or weekly drawing will be held for cash prizes or tickets to local events.  The contests are fun and encourage both readership and careful scrutiny of each ad.

Q: How often do you publish and where are you distributed?

A: New issues are distributed weekly to restaurants, delis, automotive shops, coffeehouses, etc. Its purpose is to provide POSITIVE, ENJOYABLE reading to those waiting for their meals or relaxing over a cup of coffee. With Coffee News, there is no BAD news - only trivia, interesting facts, local events, and other fun things that draw attention, like the weekly contests. Q: How long has Coffee News been in existence?

A: Coffee News was originally researched and founded by Jean Daum in Winnipeg, Canada in 1988. It has grown to over 100 locations in Canada, more than 300 in 24 of the United States, and has spawned editions in Mexico, The Dominican Republic, The United Kingdom, Spain, Portugal, The Netherlands, Finland, India, Malaysia, Brazil, New Zealand and Australia.  And at the beginning of 2002, the Coffee News World Head Office reported that Coffee News had been cleared to begin publishing in the European Union. The new European countries are: France, Italy, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Austria, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Greece, Czech Republic, Hungary, and Ireland. A French edition, Pause Café, is published in Quebec, with Spanish editions in Mexico, the U.S. and Spain.

Q: Can restaurants advertise in Coffee News?

A: No. Out of respect for our restaurants in the area, we offer the promise that no restaurants will be allowed to advertise in Coffee News, making us the only free publication that understands that restaurants do not appreciate a publication that carries their competitor's ad distributed right inside their business.  We do offer restaurants that carry Coffee News a free listing in our paper and on our web site showing our readers where they can pick up a copy of Coffee News. We advertise this Restaurant Guide each week in our papers,  encouraging readers to bookmark our Restaurant Guide for contact information, directions,  menus and coupons.

Q:  Is there an extra charge for being featured in the online Client Directory?

A:  No.  Unlike other companies that charge extra to place your information on their website, Coffee News offers this as a free service to our advertisers.  Your contact info. and website are listed in your category as an additional place that our readers can find you.  Readers are encouraged, through a weekly ad,  to bookmark our Client Direstory so that they can find your information, even if they do not have a paper with them.   We also feature our advertisers and restaurant partners in Facebook and Twitter Posts.

Q: Why does Coffee News charge so much less than other forms of advertising?

A:  Our business plan is designed to be YOUR answer to practical low-cost, repetitive and effective advertising.  We understand that it takes time to brand your business name in the community and build a strong customer base.  We provide low rates so that any business can afford to incorporate Coffee News into their long-term marketing plan.  Click here for current rates.

Q: How much is an ad?

A: Ads in Coffee News are less expensive than most other print media, designed so a business can easily afford to advertise regularly. Unless another business in your industry is already advertising in the edition, it is open to you. That's because all ads in Coffee News are EXCLUSIVE, meaning only one kind of an ad/service can run at a time in each edition, allowing our advertisers to lock out their competition.

Q: Why do you recommend that the ad run for at least 17 weeks?

A: Your advertising plan should be precisely as long as your business plan.  Advertising is an investment over time, and like many good investments, you may not see your return immediately.  At Coffee News we know that short term advertising essentially wastes money and does nothing to solidify your business name in our community.  We require you to give your ad at least 17 weeks to work for you and to begin reinforcing your business as a household name.   Keep in mind that the longer you advertise to the same group of people, the better your results and the more return you will see from your investment.  Research shows that it takes up to thirteen times for a person to see a message before it registers with them. We want to make sure we give our readers what they need to become familiar with your business, so that when they need the service that you offer, they think of you!   We also offer eight month and one year contracts at a discounted rate.

Q: How do I pay for the ad?

A: We accept all major credit cards. You will be responsible for your first month of advertising, plus your ad design fee when you place your ad. From that point on you will be billed on the first business day of each month.

Q: Do I need to design the ad?

A: All we need is a basic idea of what you want your ad to say and the impact you want it to make.  At that point we turn your ad over to a professional graphic designer who will layout your ad.  You will have a chance to approve and make changes to your ad before it runs.  There is a one time charge of $15 to layout your ad.

Q: Can I change an ad now and then?

A: Yes, after your initial set-up, all additional changes are free.
